5S/6S Rapid Improvement Events
A 5S Rapid Improvement Event is an excellent way to improve workplace productivity and set the stage for further lean improvements. Our methodology incorporates a sixth S, Safety, into the process to make it even more valuable to your organization.
American Lean consultants will take your team through a four-day event targeting an area identified for improvement via value stream mapping or other means that will result in:
- Reduced waste
- More efficient and effective use of time and resources
- Increased pride in the workplace
- Improved safety
- A foundation ready for additional improvement
The Six Steps of a 6S Rapid Improvement Event:
1.
Sort – Use 6S tools to eliminate unnecessary items and materials from work areas and ensure needed items are present.
2.
Shine – Clean the workplace and eliminate sources of contamination.
3.
Straighten – Create a place for everything and put everything in its place.
4.
Standardize – Develop customized procedures to maintain and monitor the first three S’s across the organization.
5.
Sustain – Turn the newly established procedures into habits.
6.
Safety – A cleaner, more organized workplace automatically lends itself to the sixth S, safety.
